Children and Youth Counselling
Danielle works with children and youth facing a range of struggles. Danielle uses a variety of therapies specifically designed to engage young people including verbal and expressive play, art, journaling, role playing and games. She also uses age appropriate cognitive behavioural techniques in her work. Danielle has years of experience connecting with children and youth and they open up to her warm and caring style.
Danielle worked collaboratively with schools in the Surrey School District as a Family Counsellor for 6 years. She regularly met with teachers, school administrators and support staff to help work together to meet the client's needs. If requested, Danielle is available to work with others in this multi-disciplinary approach.
Danielle provides counselling to adults who are seeking help with a wide variety of concerns. She uses a cognitive behavioural and strength-based approach with her clients. Danielle believes that as we change the way we look at things, the things we look at will change. She empowers her clients to make meaningful shifts in their lives in order to feel more fulfilled. She guides the client along the difficult but achievable process of transformation.
Danielle provides counselling to couples facing challenges in their relationship. Using Gottman informed principles as well as a strength-based approach, she works with her clients to recognize and to better manage or reconcile troublesome differences and repeating patterns of distress. Danielle works with couples of all orientations.
In working with parents and families, Danielle helps discover strengths and aids in shifting patterns that are not currently working. She gets to know the family and their internal culture in order to develop an effective treatment plan with meaningful goals. This involves getting a sense of family strengths, values and history. Effective communication in a family unit is often very difficult and Danielle can help your family get on track and re-discover its potential.
