RCC / REAT | Registered Clinical Counsellor / Registered Expressive Arts Therapist
Emily is a Registered Clinical Counsellor as well as a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist. She brings a global lens and creative depth to her counselling work. She holds a Master’s degree from the European Graduate School in Switzerland.
Over more than a decade living abroad, Emily worked across university teaching, counselling departments, and international relief in trauma-affected regions. More recently, she has been working locally with neurotypical and neurodiverse children, youth and families as well as with individuals and couples in private practice. Her work has expanded into corporate wellbeing, with a focus on contemporary anxiety and trauma.
Her therapeutic approach is holistic yet evidence-informed — drawing from Expressive Arts Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, humanistic and anti‐oppressive frameworks, and mindful inquiry into neuroscience and the heart-brain connection. Emily believes counselling is a creative, co-authored process. Her role is to gently guide clients toward their own innate wisdom and resilience, offering a safe, non-judgmental space to explore identity, connection, and meaning.
Emily works primarily in-person in our Kitsilano office as well as virtually. Outside of practice you’ll find her writing in bookstores, cycling by the water, dancing with her daughter, or digging in her garden in Steveston. She grew up on Vancouver Island, and has family roots in Portugal and Scotland.
