Danielle Veldhuis
(She/Her/Hers)
MA, RCC | Founder and Clinical Director

Danielle Veldhuis is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and owner of Foundations Counselling located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Danielle studied at Simon Fraser University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After several years of helping at-risk children and youth, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.

Danielle had a particular interest in youth self-esteem and mentoring early in her career, completing her thesis on modelling positive body image.

This led Danielle to serve eight years on the Board of Directors of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, an organization that facilitates relationships that inspire and empower girls to reach their potential — a cause that is near and dear to her heart.

Danielle has worked with young people, adults and families throughout her career, including with the Provincial Government as a family therapist and as a Clinical Counsellor at Jericho Counselling in Vancouver, BC.

Danielle is a warm and compassionate person who puts clients at ease and allows them to feel safe to open up. She is an expert in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, parenting and supporting clients with various life transitions.

She believes strongly in people’s ability to change and grow and feels honoured to guide her clients through this process. Given the uniqueness of each individual and the challenges they are facing, Danielle tailors clinical interventions based on the presenting problem. This fits with the holistic approach that informs Danielle’s work.

Danielle is originally from Prince George, BC and has lived in the Lower Mainland since 1995. She has her own life experiences associated with grief and loss, fertility challenges, anxiety and caregiving for parents. As a true extrovert, she gets energy from spending time with the people in her life, such as her daughter, husband, friends and family. She can be found in her spare time skiing, doing yoga or moving her body in a way that feels good that day, and sometimes binge-watching a good show!
