MCP, RCC | Registered Clincal Counsellor | Associate
Cynthia Bendickson is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a Canadian Certified Counsellor based in Vancouver, BC. She holds a Master’s of Counselling Psychology from Adler University.
Cynthia comes to counselling as a second career, after finding therapy profoundly helpful in her own life. In her journey to becoming a therapist, she has volunteered on crisis lines and continues to work part-time in a nonprofit counselling program supporting self-identified women who have experienced complex trauma. Cynthia supports individuals and couples in navigating experiences such as relationships, trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions. She aims to hold a compassionate and non-judgemental space where her clients can be understood, find relief, and have the freedom to explore who they are, both in themselves and in their relationships with others.
Cynthia practices from an existential-humanistic framework, she believes that counselling can be a way to understand what it truly means to be human. Her approach focuses on bringing awareness to patterns that are keeping her clients from connecting with themselves and using this insight to be able to create an authentic and meaningful life. Cynthia additionally uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focussed Couples Therapy with couples to build intentional, supportive relationships. She incorporates somatic, cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness tools in her approach to enable lasting change.
