What Is Stress & Burnout?

It seems that hearing the answer, “Stressed,” to the question, “How are you doing?” is becoming far too common. With the challenges of navigating work, family, a social life, school and keeping up with what’s happening online, our minds are becoming overwhelmed resulting in negative effects on mental health.

While stress is a natural response to difficult or challenging situations, burnout is when that stress and feeling overwhelmed becomes chronic and prolonged. Individuals experiencing stress and burnout often feel irritable, fatigue, lack of motivation, and feelings of hopelessness.

 

How Can Counselling Help?

Our counsellors are trained to help individuals identify and manage the symptoms associated with stress and burnout. At Foundations, we provide a supportive and safe environment for our clients to develop resiliency and coping skills, and address the foundational causes of their stress and burnout.


Identifying Triggers is a key component of counselling for stress and burnout. By being able to identify the specific stressors in your life, you are then able to apply effective coping skills to diminish their effects on your mental and physical health.

Development of Skills is what allows our clients to not only begin to leave their stress behind while working with us, but allows our clients to have sustained, long term success with handling stress in a healthy manner.
